A cargo ship hit a bridge in Guangzhou in southern China early on Thursday. A portion of the bridge collapsed due to the ship’s collision, resulting in five vehicles, including a public bus, plunging into the river.
Rescue operations were on, but there was no information on any casualties or injuries, BBC reported, citing state media.
Visuals on state-run broadcaster China Central Television (CCTV) showed the cargo ship trapped underneath the broken section of the bridge. It is believed that the vessel was not carrying any cargo.
